Why Brand Health
Research that tells you what to do next.
Most brand research describes what happened. Ours is built to answer the decision in front of you, and the senior researcher who designs your study is the one who tells you what it means and what to do about it.
Our purpose
Why we exist
Too much research ends as a deck of charts that nobody acts on. The study is designed by one person, run by another, analysed by a junior team and presented by someone who has never seen the questionnaire. By the time it reaches you, the judgement has been lost.
Brand Health was set up to do it differently: senior researchers on every study from the first conversation to the final debrief, every study built around a decision you need to make, and a clear recommendation at the end of it.
The alternatives
How we compare with the alternatives
Most of the marketers we work with have weighed up three other options. Each has its place. This is how they differ.

- Large research agencies
- Often a junior team, with seniors at the pitch and the debrief
- Dashboards and off-the-shelf trackers
- A platform; interpretation is up to you
- Do-it-yourself survey tools
- You
- Brand Health

Fit
When we are, and aren’t, the right fit
We’re a good fit when
You have a real decision to make about your brand, your advertising, your packaging or your messaging, and want evidence behind it.
You want to know how you compare with the competitors your buyers actually consider.
You want someone senior to tell you what the results mean, not just send the data.
Your study is in one market or several. We run multi-country quantitative studies regularly.
We’re not the right fit when
You need a figure for a single question this week and have no budget: a survey tool will serve you better.
You want a ready-made industry report rather than research on your own brand.
Our principles
What we believe
A finding without a recommendation is unfinished.
Every report ends with what to do next, in priority order, and why.
Compare yourself with real competitors, not an average.
Buyers choose between brands, not against a benchmark, so that is how we measure you.
Measure what drives choice, not what people say matters.
Trade-off methods show what really moves buyers, which is often not what they tell you.
Be honest about the data.
We test significance, flag small samples and state the limits, so findings stand up in the boardroom.
Only track what you will act on.
A tracker earns its cost when each wave changes a decision. If a measure never does, we take it out.
Who leads the work
Senior on every study.
Tom Morris
Managing Director
Tom started Brand Health in 2019 after years of watching two things go wrong in research: senior researchers winning the work and then handing it to junior teams, and studies ending as thick reports that nobody acted on. He built Brand Health so that the person who designs your study is the one who analyses it and stands in front of you to explain it, and so that every study finishes with a clear answer: what is holding your brand back, and what to do about it first. He still leads the team’s research and is involved in every study.
Since then the team has designed and run brand audits, brand trackers, advertising effectiveness studies and pack and message tests for organisations in education, insurance and superannuation, consumer health, retail, B2B services, member organisations and the not-for-profit sector, in Australia and across several markets at once. For some clients that has meant their first ever brand tracker. For others it has meant years of tracking that now shape each year’s marketing plan, and many come back to commission the next study.
Before Brand Health, Tom spent more than 15 years in research agencies and client-side roles, and holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School.
Behind every study is a team of senior researchers and specialist partners, including qualitative specialists and accredited online panels for fieldwork, brought together around what each study needs.
